Chef Keith Famie will host a new adventure-seeking
series "KEITH FAMIE'S ADVENTURES", where he travels
the globe in search of the best food and most exciting locations.
The half-hour series will premiere Monday, January 7 at 10:30PM/ET
during Food Network's first primetime culinary exploration block
-- "Taste the Adventure" 10-11PM/ET M-TH. Keith gives
viewers a preview of his new series on November 12 at 10PM/ET
with a one-hour special shot on location in Kenya. Using only
local fare to survive his stay, Keith becomes the ultimate guide
to experiencing the food and culture of the African continent.
"You haven't really been there until you've eaten the food,"
is the experience Keith shares with viewers in his regular series,
"KEITH FAMIE'S ADVENTURES," where he samples the food
and local adventure in remote and exotic spots across the world.
"Who better to host Food Network's newest
food adventure series, 'Keith Famie's Adventures,'" said
Girard. "His life epitomizes food adventure and we are thrilled
to have him be a part of an initiative which showcases the integral
and diverse part food plays in daily life."
"Food, travel, and adventure are the core
passions of my life, and I'm thrilled that Food Network thought
that I would be the perfect host for a campaign that brings together
the best tastes and travel from around the world " said Famie.
"I'm looking forward to sharing my own food adventures with
the Food Network audience during my new series.'"
Kicking off with a one-hour special in Kenya this
fall, Chef and former 'Survivor' Keith Famie will host a new adventure-seeking
series where he travels the world in search of the best food and
most exciting locations. According to Famie, it's not enough to
just go on a cruise, lie on a beach, or even visit exotic locations.
To really experience a locality, you have to walk the shoreline,
kayak in a secluded bay around seals and whales, and, of course,
taste the food. In "KEITH FAMIE'S ADVENTURES," Keith
samples the food and local adventure in remote and exotic spots
across the globe - like when Famie bikes across Vietnam, one of
his "Most Adventurous Places to Visit," as part of a
"Cycle The World" group. While there he admires the
beauty of the rice fields and is even tempted to drink snake wine.
Famie, although best known for his role on "Survivor
II," has long combined his love of food with a passion for
travel and adventure. An award-winning chef and restaurateur,
Famie also hosted "Famie's Adventures in Cooking" on
local Detroit television stations. Last year, he produced and
hosted his first prime time Emmy-nominated special, "From
Hanoi to China Beach a Taste of the Exotic," a documentary
based on a culinary journey through Vietnam with three Vietnam
veterans on bicycles. The 40-year-old Michigan native is also
the author of the recently released cookbook, Famie's Adventures
in Cooking.
